Job Description
The City of Marinette – REC Center is seeking creative, enthusiastic and sports minded applicants for Recreation Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator supports with day-to-day operations of the Marinette REC Center assisting with administrative support, camps, clinics and recreation programming. Duties include communicating with parents, supervising summer staff, and planning/execution of recreation center activities. Work closely with Recreation Superintendent, contractors, volunteers and the public.

Job Analysis 
This position is responsible to perform administrative support, event and recreational program coordination, and bookkeeper tasks, under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent.

Essential Job Functions 
  • Assist with or direct the preparation of governing committee agendas.
  • Assure care and custody of all city property/facilities associated with the job.
  • Assure staff compliance of all Wisconsin Department of Commerce safety standards.
  • Coordinate and chaperon supervised bus trips.
  • Direct, assign and supervise all work activities of the department including hiring staff, conducting performance evaluations, scheduling work hours for staff, assigning workloads and conducting disciplinary procedures.
  • Enforce current policies and procedures within the department.
  • Implement, train and supervise programs as necessary, including summer day camp.
  • Organizes all aspects of the birthday party program, including responding to interested individuals, reserving parties and coordinating with the client of each party.
  • Perform supervisory duties including guidance/direction and discipline.
  • Recommend the purchase of new equipment, the repairs of present equipment and utilization of rental equipment when necessary.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of Recreation Center events.
  • Review the inventory and condition of the department equipment.
  • Review, recommend and implement management practices to insure optimum use of city resources.
  • Schedule and supervise program staff and instructors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma; experience in recreation field or related responsibilities preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of programs.
  • Knowledge of developing and facilitating a variety of recreation programs.
  • A Wisconsin Driver’s License is required and residency requirements apply.
  • Candidate must reside in the State of Wisconsin within six months of hire.

Salary/Salary Range
$21.30/hr
