Job Description
The City of De Pere is seeking a Park Superintendent. This position is responsible for the planning, development, monitoring, repair and maintenance of the City’s parks, urban forest and green spaces, facilities and amenities, and oversee its operations and crews to ensure essential services and facilities are provided and maintained for public safety, health, and welfare. The typical work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. However, the City of De Pere recognizes the importance of its employees having a proper work-life balance and supports alternative work arrangements which include alternative work schedules, flexible scheduling, and remote work to help meet your lifestyle needs. In addition, new employees receive three weeks of vacation time per year beginning on the first day of work (prorated the first year).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Parks Management, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, or related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a similar environment, including direct supervisory experience.
  • Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional preferred.
  • Valid unencumbered Wisconsin driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary/Salary Range
The full salary range for this position is $78,416 - $112,008. Anticipated starting salary is $78,416 - $94,078.40, depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package. The City of De Pere rewards employees for exceptional work performance with a pay for performance incentive program. Employees may be awarded a salary increase, bonus, or paid time off for exceptional work performance. Employees will be automatically enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), a pension plan to help provide for financial security during retirement, which consists of employer and employee contributions. Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program: The City of De Pere is a qualifying employer under the PSLF Program. The PSLF Program is a federal program that is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans.
