Program Manager - Out of School Time Programs

Job Description
The Out of School Time (OST) Program Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the AM Action, Action 330, Non School Day Camp, and Summer Camp programs within the West Allis West Milwaukee Recreation and Community Services Department. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for providing high-quality programming for children and families. OST Manager serves as a member of the department leadership administrative team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervising, and evaluation of part time, seasonal, volunteer, and contracted/vended staff to support program areas.
  • Direct supervisor of the OST Program Specialist.
  • Direct oversight and management of Biweekly payroll processing.
  • Implementation of program expectations to ensure the delivery of high quality programming at all sites.
  • Creating and providing resources to support staff and participants.
  • Engaging families, district administration, teachers, and the community for support of the out of-school time programs through communication and collaboration.
  • Oversee daily program operations (enrichment opportunities, homework assistance, and physical fitness).
  • Conduct site visits and reviews.
  • Evaluation and assessment of program quality as well as continuously working towards improvements.
  • Responsible for leadership and management of the planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing of day to day schedules and activities for camps.
  • Provide program evaluations and reports through regular personal observation, employee, and participant feedback.
  • Maintains inventory, orders and distributes recreation supplies and equipment needed for program areas.
  • Prepares and monitors a budget for each of the designated programs in the assigned area. All financial reports to be current, accurate and consistently reliable maximizing service cost recovery.
  • Establishes and maintains a customer focused service approach for recreation programming.
  • Displays innovative and creative ideas and methods for the service delivery of all Out of School Time programs.
  • Assists with the facilitation of promotion and marketing of OST programs to increase public awareness, support and participation.
  • Develops alternative resource methods related to the program area (grants, sponsorships, etc.).
  • Contributes to the overall department team goals through active engagement and leadership.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring and recognition to all staff in OST programs.

Qualifications
Successful candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in recreation, education, child development or a related field and have at least 2 years experience managing an out-of-school time program. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate an ability to work closely with day school staff.

Salary/Salary Range

$55,000 plus benefits
